Cut Adrift was founded in 2019 out of a passion for country warmth, relaxed coastal living, and the unmistakable character of time-worn design.
At the core of the painted collection is the enduring influence of 18th and 19th-century Shaker furniture. The early Shakers mastered the art of functional beauty - creating simple, purposeful designs built to last. Cut Adrift carries that tradition forward by researching early, rustic Shaker forms and bringing them to life through classic finishing methods. Using layered paints, specialised glazes, and hand-distressing, each piece is deliberately aged to reveal subtle textures and colours that echo a long-treasured heirloom.
Complementing these painted pieces is a range of unique driftwood furniture. Crafted from naturally ocean-tumbled timber gathered along the shoreline, these handcrafted cupboards, wall shelves, and storage units showcase raw, sea-weathered grains and organic textures. Each piece combines practical storage with the rugged, untouched character of wood shaped by the tide.
